HOW
TO SUBMIT WORK Debra Kendrick, our Curator, has been
with the Center since 2002. Here are Debra's criteria for artists who have
questions about submitting their works for consideration. PORTFOLIO SUBMISSIONS To submit a
portfolio for consideration, please send 5 - 10 representative examples of your
work in the form of good photographs (not slides). In addition to a resumé, please include a brief biography
and a statement about your work (each should consist of one to several
paragraphs. Your biography should give the reader insight into who you
are-perhaps where you are from, where you trained, and other information that
helps inform your work. Likewise, the artist's statement should help viewers
understand why you work the way you do in regard to materials, subject matter,
style, etc.) Also include daytime and evening phone
numbers and a self-addressed, stamped return envelope. Our exhibition schedule is usually established at least one year in
advance, but we accept portfolio submissions year-round. It is often helpful to
have portfolios on hand to project even further into the future, and
occasionally the need will arise to add to or substitute in the established
schedule. As final decisions on the schedule are subject to approval by the
Executive Director and Board, please allow several months for this process to
be complete. JURIED EXHIBITS Another opportunity for area artists can be found during our
twice-yearly Open Juried Exhibits, which are open to anyone, in all
media and subject matter, and an annual Juried Photography Exhibit.
Works are juried by an outside professional to select the show. Cash
awards are presented during the free public opening reception. We also have
occasional thematic or select media juried exhibitions. Check the Exhibits web
page frequently to see what's coming up! Have additional questions for Debra? Drop her an e-mail: dkendrick@taaccl.org |
