Session is made up of six classes meeting once a week for 6 weeks. See class
description for exact class dates.
°You must be registered for the full session to attend
classes. No pro-rated or single class attendance will be offered.
   Supplies / Materials

°Students will need to provide their own supplies for most
classes.
°A materials fee will be
charged for classes that provide supplies.
   Tuition
and Fees: (Effective August 18,

°Tuition and any other fees must be paid in full at the time of
registration.
°To receive
discounted tuition you must provide your membership card or employee ID at the
time of registration.
°Individual
memberships apply only to the individual member. Household level memberships
and above apply to all members of the family residing in the
household.
°Discounts are applied to
tuition only. Discounts do not apply to materials or late fees.
   Refunds:
-All refund requests will be subject to
the following guidelines-
°Full Refund
- withdrawal must be requested in writing, 2 weeks prior to the start date of
the class.
°Half Refund - withdrawal
must be requested in writing, prior to the second week of the
class.
°No Refund will be provided for
withdrawal after the second week of class.

Students will explore the
versatility of various materials such as pencils, markers, pastels, pen &
ink, and watercolors while learning different painting and basic drawing

Students will learn to
enhance their creative and critical thinking skills by combining drawing,
painting, printmaking, and mask making techniques. Students will create
projects using both wet and dry media. Finished projects will include
multi-media works including collage and assemblage (3-D) works. 
THE BASIC PEYOTE STITCH
(12-ADULT)

Want to experiment with color and design? Want to learn to
make simple components that can be used to create designs for jewelry from
funky to elegant? The basic peyote stitch can be used to
make an almost infinite variety of designs. This class will
teach the basic peyote stitch and how to create a basic bracelet. Students will be supplied with a basic kit which includes: two
packs of Delica beads, beading pad, triangle, needle, and spool of Nymo thread.
Additional beads, thread, needles, and clasps will
be available at minimal cost. (To make available a range of color choices,
embellishments, clasp styles, and replacements for lost and/or forgotten
items.)

MINI-BEADING: MAKING BEADS FROM
THE PEYOTE STITCH (12-ADULT)

Did you know that you could make beads using the basic
peyote stitch? This class will teach you
how to make a mini-bead out of peyote stitch, and help you to design jewelry
using mini-beads as a component. The basic kit
will be available for purchase for $15, if you have not already purchased one
in the Basic Peyote class. Supplies to bring with
you: If you have purchased the basic kit, or have your own pad, Nymo thread,
and beading needles, you will only need to purchase additional beads and/or
possibly thread to match. These beads only
take a small amount of beads to make, so additional colors will be made
available for minimal cost. Prerequisite: 101:

This class will teach a variation of the basic peyote stitch
that works up quickly and makes cuff bracelets, or chokers, variety of jewelry
components. The materials fee will include two
packs of size 8 Delica beads. [It seems the price is $3.60 -4.00 a
pack] Supplies to bring with you: If you have purchased
the basic kit, or have your own pad, Nymo thread, and beading needles, you will
only need to purchase the two packs of size 8 Delicas, and possibly thread to
match. The basic kit will be available for $15 and will
include all your basic supplies. Additional beads, thread, needles, and clasps
will be available at minimal cost. (To make available a range of color choices,
embellishments, clasp styles, and replacements for lost and/or forgotten
items.) Prerequisite: 101: The Basic Peyote

POETRY DISCOVERY

This class is designed to
introduce you to a wide variety of poets and poetry styles. There
will be reading and responding to poetry in a variety of ways, including
visual, verbal, and written. Shared techniques will help those who wish to
write their own poems, using writing from prompts and exercises to respond to
poetry, and make the most of your ideas. This workshop will have something
for all people interested in poetry, from the novice to those more familiar
with poetry, from someone who just wants to know more about poetry to those who
wish to go deeper into writing their own poems. What to
bring: a notebook, something to write with, copy of a favorite poem, and your
enthusiasm. Willingness to experiment and share your insights will be necessary
for this workshop.   |
